The 97th Pitti Filati edition, held July 1-3 at Fortezza da Basso in Florence, saw more than 3,300 buyers in attendance. Of these, about 1,700 came from 50 countries (representing 51 percent of the total), a number in line with a year ago, while Italians registered a slight decline.

Despite everything, there is confidence in the sector

This was a decidedly interesting and lively edition, as emphasized by Raffaello Napoleone, Pitti Immagine’s CEO, in the wake of the results of recent events. There is awareness among operators that the Italian spinning industry is going through a phase of settling down, but, at the same time, the three-day 97th Pitti Filati edition recorded great dynamism. “So there was also a sense of confidence, arising from coming together to give concrete answers to the market. After all, the confirmation of foreign presences – with the style offices of the most important fashion brands and maisons – is another important signal that goes in this direction. We are already at work on the next edition, making sure that the international spinning and knitting world will find even more effective solutions at Pitti Filati to revive the coming seasons.”

A reference for the international knitwear community

Among the foreign markets, France (+21%), Britain (+8.5%), Germany (+6%), Japan (+15%), and also China, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Hong Kong are growing.

In the ranking of the top 15 markets at the show in pole is France, followed by the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, China, Switzerland, Japan, Spain, Turkey, Portugal, the Netherlands, China-Hong Kong, Denmark, Belgium, South Korea.

“The97th Pitti Filati edition confirms itself as a fundamental meeting moment for the international knitwear community, which unites spinners with the style offices of fashion companies,” adds Agostino Poletto, director general of Pitti Immagine, “passing through knitters, textile machinery and all the other key professionals in knitwear creation, to the world of education. Buyers also found at this edition many stimuli for their research, starting with the proposals of the spinning mills: stands full of creativity not only in the product but also in the layouts of the presentations, in many cases true multisensory experiences.”
