Organized by Firenze Fiera with leading institutions and trade associations, MIDA 89 – Mostra Internazionale dell’Artigianato, will be held at Fortezza da Basso in Florence from April 25 to May 1. The first certified fair of ‘savoir-faire’ in Italy, the identity heritage of’made in Italy in the world, turns 89 this year. Years during which it has shown of the evolution of artisan crafts in the national and international socio-cultural fabric.

A national and international audience

An event born in 1931 that is renewed every year in Florence with the presence of different and distant voices, cultures, generations and traditions. A journey of the world to the roots of creativity with an endless variety of artifacts, collateral initiatives and live experiential workshops that, while not giving up the charm of tradition, wink at technological innovation but also at the ethics of green and sustainable work processes.

Throughout the 89 years that has seen the development of an industrial culture and the transition to the digital age, artisans have played a key role in ferrying identity values in the complex social evolution, demonstrating an ability to adapt and renew themselves by leveraging: creativity, passion and relationships,” as recalled Lorenzo Becattini, president of Firenze Fiera.

More than 500 exhibitors present

In the setting of the Medici Fortress will once again be the artisans, taking the stage with the consent of a national and international audience made up of enthusiasts, buyers, journalists, influencers, as evidenced by the 65 thousand visitors registered in the last edition of the fair. The exhibition represents for so many artisan enterprises, young makers, creative people, designers an opportunity not to be missed to exhibit in one of the most important fair-congress quarters in the world and tell their stories and the excellence of their territory.

MIDA 89 will feature more than 500 exhibitors over an area of 35 thousand square meters. An edition that will also have with a strong international vocation, thanks in part to the relationships established with the main Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad (CCIE) for the participation of exhibitors from many countries. These include France, Spain, Egypt, Morocco, China, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Singapore.
All product categories will be represented: from clothing and accessories to home furnishings, from beauty and wellness to design and innovation, oggettistic, jewelry and costume jewelry, and food and wine products.

Students are welcome

Among the scheduled initiatives at MIDA 89 – www.mostrartigianato.it – conferences, workshops, laboratories and experiential workshops. Also many initiatives on artistic craftsmanship and contemporary design promoted and organized at the Cavaniglia Pavilion with the support of Artex – Center for Artistic and Traditional Craftsmanship of Tuscany.
In collaboration with the Scuola le Arti Orafe, the fair will also set up in the Polveriera space an area dedicated to education with the presentation of works created by students and teachers, while a series of conferences dedicated to craftsmanship, design and research on contemporary jewelry will be reserved for high school students.
