From April 12 to 14, 30th Torino Comics returns to Lingotto Fiere. Organized by GL events Italia in joint venture with Just for fun, this year the event celebrates its 30th anniversary by continuing to attract comics, manga, anime, cinema, games, esport and videogames fans to the Piedmont capital. As well as the ever-present cosplayers, coming from all over Italy.
Theme 2024 is Techno-Fantasy, a genre that combines fantastic elements with the wonders of futuristic technology. Space then is given to a universe where sorcerers and machines, cybernetic dragons and high-tech adventures coexist in harmony.
The international guest of honor at Torino Comics will be British actor Peter Gadiot, who plays the character of Shanks in the TV series One Piece.
30th Torino Comics: a community born over time
Born in 1994 from an idea of Vittorio Pavesio, author and publisher, the event was initially hosted at Torino Esposizioni, but due to rapid growth in popularity and size, it found another home at Lingotto Fiere, a location that consolidated its size and allowed for further expansion of the fair’s offerings and activities.
In 2014, the current organizing companies, GL events, which also manages the Lingotto Fiere fairgrounds in Turin, and Just For Fun, which specializes in event development, digital and E-sports, took over. In 2015, it is one of the first fairs in Italy to bring in talent and content creators, thus expanding the community.
Finally, the 2014-2024 decade consolidates the national positioning of 30th Torino Comics with the growth of cosplay competitions, where it is the only fair in Italy to host the qualifiers of four international competitions. In addition, the event is also distinguished by the development of new thematic areas. Such as Kpop, Wrestling, the videogames area, the Red Zone dedicated to erotic comics, the cinema and dubbing area and the music area with concerts and the battle of the bands, building a solid and loyal community and exceeding 60,000 visitors
The Sound Wave Award is born
Among the novelties of the 30th Torino Comics www.torinocomics.com is the Onda sonora award, dedicated to dubbing in the world of video games. Promoted by Voci Animate and Videogiochitalia.it in collaboration with the event, it aims to enhance the art and complexity of video game dubbing. It is a unique challenge for voice actors and dubbers who, unlike in cinema or TV series, work without visualizing images, relying exclusively on the sound wave to interpret the mood and context of the characters. Until March 9, the public can vote online for the categories of best male voiceover, best female voiceover, and best voiceover direction. The winners will be awarded on stage at Torino Comics on Saturday, April 13, in front of a quality jury composed of voice actors Patrizia Scianca, Federica Valenti and Renato Novara.
