The 3th Comicon Bergamo, the most eagerly awaited international festival and reference point for pop culture in Northern Italy, will be held at the Bergamo Exhibition Centre from 20 to 22 June. Organised with Promoberg, in addition to a rich programme of events and guests this year, the event also includes seven exhibitions dedicated to comics and an even more articulated OFF programme, until 19 July, with appointments also spread to Brescia and Milan.
Tanino Liberatore is the Magister of the third edition of the festival
The Magister 2025 is Tanino Liberatore, one of the main interpreters of modern Italian comics, who helped define the post-punk aesthetic of the 1980s both in Italy and in Europe. The artist will be the protagonist at the 3th Comicon Bergamo not only with a personal exhibition, but will also curate an exhibition dedicated to an international comics artist and will also be at the centre of several talks and special meetings.
Signing the poster of the third edition is another of the most appreciated Italian artists of the last decade, namely Gigi Cavenago. A long-time cover artist for Dylan Dog, Cavenago is also appreciated as the illustrator of “The Magic Order”, a comic series by Mark Millar, visual artist for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and art director of an episode of the animated series “Love, Death & Robots” for Netflix.
In the poster, the protagonist is a city pervaded by a palpable electricity, in which one can feel the imminence of something extraordinary. All presented through an adventurous, almost epic tone.
3th Comicon Bergamo: guests from all over the world
There are also many Italian guests expected at the three-day event, arriving both from Italy and abroad.
Like the singer-songwriter and stand-up comedian Ghemon, one of the most popular national artists, who will present his book “Nobody is One” and hold signacopie sessions. Cartoonists Mattia Labadessa, Tito Faraci and Quasirosso will be present, as well as the group of creators including Dario Moccia, Mangaka96, Davide Masella. The latter will present their new and ambitious publishing project Tomodachi Press.
Among the masters of international comics will also be French cartoonist Edmond Baudoin, and the great signature of Disney comics Claudio Sciarrone.
The contest that rewards young comics talents
Promoted by the 3th Comicon Bergamo – https://www.comicon.it/ – and supported by Caffè Borbone, this year’s comics and graphics contest “Imago”, now in its 26th edition, is once again taking place. Participants – young non-professional comics and illustration creators – were asked by the organisers “ to create works on the theme ”#GenerazioneDigitale: From great technologies come great responsibilities!’. The participants are divided into two categories of works – Short Comics and Drawing/Graphics/Illustration), which are in turn divided into under and over 16 age groups.
The exhibition will showcase the works of the 12 winners of the competition, i.e. the top 3 authors in each of the 4 different categories and voted by the Comicon Napoli audience, as well as the 4 winners of the Comicon Special Prize.
