The first Symposium on Biotechnological Tools in Horticulture
Among the most interesting novelties of the 42th Macfrut edition was the first edition of the International Symposium on Biotechnological Tools in Horticulture, a world conference dedicated to biotechnology applied to horticulture. The event was sponsored by the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS), in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences (D3A) of the Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM), under the coordination of professors Silvia Sabbadini, Angela Ricci, Luca Capriotti and Bruno Mezzetti.
The symposium attracted more than 220 participants from 40 countries, involving representatives from academia, research centers, as well as private sector and industrial leaders.
42th Macfrut edition: focus on topical issues for the sector
The event program, divided into parallel sessions, hosted international experts who took turns exploring the latest biotechnological tools applied to horticulture.
Presentations addressed topical issues such as ‘micropropagation and in vitro plant approaches’. Highlighting how this strategy represents not only a multibillion-dollar industry for large-scale multiplication of numerous plant species, but also an industry capable of effectively and profitably integrating biotechnology into different horticultural fields.
“Having hosted this event at the 42th Macfrut edition,” https://www.macfrut.com, “has helped foster the meeting between the world of research and academia and that of production and industry, promoting constructive dialogue, connections and opportunities for mutual exchange. Also reinforcing this connection was the support of numerous sponsors from the private sector, whose support was crucial to the realization of the event,” stressed the coordinators of the Università Politecnica delle Marche.
