Sigep edition 2024 , the International Exhibition of Gelato, Pastry, Artisan Bakery and Coffee, closed its 45th edition from January 18 to 22 at the Rimini exhibition center.
As pointed out by Maurizio Ermeti, president of Italian Exhibition Group, the 2023 results were reconfirmed with visitors from 160 countries and 1,200 exhibiting brands arriving from 35 nations. “The event confirms itself as a point of reference for the sweet food service industry,” Ermeti concluded, “offering increasingly cutting-edge and technological challenges. A unique business appointment that in Rimini, vocated to innovation, has found an enormous added value.”
An international proposal
There were numerous foreign attendees at Sigep edition 2024 from Europe (Spain, Germany, Romania, France, Greece), the Balkan Area (Croatia, Serbia, Albania), the Middle East, Africa North America, Central South America, Asia and Southeast Asia. As in every edition, this year’s schedule of events was highly articulated and appreciated. These included during the 5-day event the three international competitions Gelato World Cup, Juniores Pastry World Cup and European Gelato Challenge, in which representatives from 25 countries participated.
More than 5,000 business meetings were held at the stands of the exhibiting brands, thanks to more than 500 top buyers from 84 countries. Participation that benefited from collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the ICE Agency and Ieg’s network of regional advisors.
Sigep edition 2024 recorded media and social visibility. On the latter with a community of 161 thousand professionals, with 2 million views of online content and 780 thousand views on the app TEO – The eating out, enriched with the new function “Jobs”. Total media contacts to date exceed 561 million gross with 660 accredited journalists, including 56 from abroad.
Sustainability central theme 2024
Sigep edition 2024 presented the main proposals coming from the sweet food service world through meetings on product innovations and new consumer trends. There was no shortage of show-cooking with the masters of artisanal dessert with the involvement of distributors, restaurant chains and public establishments.
Leading companies of machines and ingredients for ice cream and pastry, bakery and pizza, chocolate and coffee supply chains were on display.
Sustainability was the main theme of this Sigep edition 2024 www.sigep.it.
And while the green economy landed in the ice cream industry, it also invested the pastry industry, which winked at plants and explored new frontiers, including artificial intelligence. Chocolate, too, has shown a penchant for conscious production processes, while the coffee sector is appealing to an increasingly discerning consumer who prefers the most sustainable companies.
Meanwhile, Ieg has announced the date for Sigep 2025, which will take place from January 18 to 22.
