Great success both in terms of audience and media for the 15th edition of BTO – Be Travel Onlife, held at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence from November 22 to 23. The event dedicated to digital tourism is promoted by the Region of Tuscany and the Chamber of Commerce of Florence and organized by Toscana Promozione Turistica, PromoFirenze and Fondazione Sistema Toscana.
Thanks to the contribution of the 80 experts on the Advisory Board and the work of the coordinators of the 4 topics led by scientific director Francesco Tapinassi, the 2023 edition involved 286 speakers, 40 of them coming from abroad.
What the tourism of the future will look like
These included the big players in global tourism who, together with the topics covered, such as Artificial Intelligence, to which the title “Sapiens. Humans meet AI,” made the event of great interest to those involved in tourism. Indeed, data, trends and exclusive research were presented during the event, with the aim of anticipating what the tourism of the future will be.
At the more than 80 events in the physical and virtual halls of BTO Be Travel Onlife, a total of more than 12,000 accesses were registered. In addition to the strong presence from Tuscany, the main areas of origin of the audience were in particular Venice, Bologna, Trento, Rome, and Genoa, followed by Cuneo, Milan, Salerno, and Verona.
Among the participants’ sectors, in first place remain firmly hotel managers followed by tour operators, non-hotel accommodation staff, web agencies, students and tourism promotion bodies.
The 274 guests – 40 of whom were international – of the approximately 100panels, dialogued among in-depth discussions, seminars, workshops, contaminations and futuristic speeches to present technological trends applied to travel. Trends declined in the 4 topics – Destination, Digital Strategy, Food &Wine Tourism and Hospitality – curated respectively by Emma Taveri, Giulia Eremita and Rodolfo Baggio, Roberta Milano and Nicola Zoppi.
Speakers on stage included Federico Faggin, father of the microchip, booking.com platform with Adrienne Enggist, economist Carlo Alberto Carnevali Maffè, IBM Research with Hypertaste, PhoCusWright, nutritionist Giorgio Calabrese, travel trade associations, among others.
Be Travel Onlife: media and social interest grows
The appreciation also came on social. On the Facebook channel, the one million mark was exceeded with interactions increased by 60 percent. On the Instagram profile during the two-day event, more than a thousand stories were shared and more than 500 posts with the hashtag #BTO2023 chronicled the live event. On LinkedIn, interest grew by more than 200%.
Numerous media outlets covered the event: from news and radio to general and trade press.
The organizers also announced the dates of Be Travel Onlife 2024 https://www.bto.travel/. The 16th edition will be held on Wednesday, November 27 and Thursday, November 28, again at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence.
