The ninth edition of Nightmare Before Xmas Comics&Games will take place at the Oval – Lingotto Fiere from 16 to 17 December. The event, dedicated to comics, games, video games, cosplay and cinema, this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the theatrical release of “Nightmare before Christmas”, a film created by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick.

Even the official poster of the event, created by the cartoonist Massimiliano Frezzato, is a tribute to the atmospheres of Tim Burton.
It will be possible to immerse yourself in the world of Jack Skellington. In fact, it will be enough to cross the doors of the trees that represent the various holidays to enter the dark heart of Halloween Town, until you reach the enchanted Christmas Town to go in search of Santa Claus, among pumpkins, skeletons and strange characters.

Guest of honor the actor Steven John Ward

Steven John Ward will also be present at Nightmare Before
South African, born in 1990, Steven John Ward chose Turin for his first time in Europe as host of an event.
The actor and guest of honor will be at the Oval for the entire duration of the event, available to the public for autograph sessions, photos and dedications.

The world of comics and its protagonists

Together with Ward, designers, illustrators and screenwriters will also be available to the public of enthusiasts for personalized sketches and drawings. Also scheduled are various cultural meetings, debates and presentations to dialogue live with the authors and more.
The art of drawing in its various forms always plays an important role at Nightmare Before Xmas Comics&Games. This year too, visitors will be able to meet designers and artists. Each of them specializes in particular themes: from watercolor faces to digital painting, from the inking of manga with a nib to the study of character clothing, through screenplays and storyboards, mind maps, psychology of drawing, character design and much more.

Space for cosplay

The Kpop area, in collaboration with Turin Korea Connection, is the space where enthusiasts and the curious can meet and share their passion for Kpop culture. Here music, dance, fashion, lifestyle and activities will be the key elements of the three days of the fair.
Nightmare Before Xmas Comics&Games is also one of the main national meeting places for the cosplay world, with events and activities organized in collaboration with the Cospa Family association. Cosplay contests are scheduled, with over 300 participants each year, with various categories in competition, from the best male and female costume to the best group, from the best interpretation to the best accessory.
In addition to the cosplay contest, the qualifying stage for the international DeTo Cosplay Crown competition will return to Turin, in which qualified cosplayers from all over Europe will participate. The finals will take place in 2023 in Monthey, Switzerland, during the Destination Tokyo event.
