DaTE 2023, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary eyewear which began on Saturday 9th, ended on 10 September at the Leopolda in Florence. A prominent showcase for those many producers and optical centers who want to stand out, as always the event, now in its 11th edition, has put in pole position glasses that differentiate themselves, unique, exclusive, researched products.
This year in particular, the offer was very varied, with solutions designed for various types of customers, without forgetting quality and attention to detail.

DaTE 2023: trends and colors for next season

As for the innovations presented during the event, many interesting trends were seen among the stands.
Like the “gender free” models, many sustainable references in organic acetates or recycled carbon, or in exclusive materials such as Indian buffalo horn, or even combinations of fine woods and gold with acetate. But also recycled objects, vintage shapes inspired by the great classics of the 30s, 40s and 50s, products entirely handmade and tailor-made but also 3D printed.
As for the color, lots of green, purple, fuchsia, orange, yellow, red and fluorescent. Without forgetting the more traditional tones – grey, brown, tortoiseshell, black and white – for those who love timeless style.

Thousands of professionals and buyers

This year DaTE 2023 hosted several debuts from non-European countries, albeit different from each other: examples include South Korea and Tunisia. Returns were also recorded which confirm the Florentine show as a point of reference for innovative eyewear.
The scenography of the exhibition space is also new, enriched by visuals taken from the communication campaign, created exclusively by LYF and focused on faces and eyes, as well as scenic elements, in contrast with the austerity of the location, which transported the visitor in a carefree, colorful and experimental world, with the objective, centered, to amaze.
DaTE 2023 hosted around 1,000 high-profile professionals and buyers in the sector, mainly Italian but some also coming from countries such as Chile, India, the United States, Taiwan and Israel.

A tool for operators

“The formula we chose, two days instead of three, proved effective: it allowed exhibitors to concentrate their efforts and optimize the time available and the investment – was the comment of the president of the event Giovanni Vitaloni -. This confirms that, beyond the format and duration, DaTE 2023 is an eagerly awaited event and a useful tool for operators to launch new collections in September, i.e. at the beginning of the new season. ”

In the meantime, the organizers are already working on the future of the show. Innovation and novelties are intrinsic to an event which is an incubator of new ideas and which makes avant-garde its rule, always listening very carefully to the renewed needs of both production and distribution.
