After the closure, the 20th Zoomark edition, which was held at BolognaFiere from 15 to 17 May, takes stock. A final balance that underlines how the international pet food and pet care fair, held every two years, has exceeded all the expectations of the organizers, confirming itself as the leading b2b event on the market in 2023 in Europe.
This is demonstrated by the record numbers, which register increases both in the presence of exhibitors and visitors and in international popularity.

20th Zoomark edition: the numbers speak

The balance sheet of the 20th edition marks a success that confirms the role that this event plays in the marketing activities of the industry and in the professional updating of the distribution.
In fact, if during the last five editions it has grown by 70% as regards exhibitors and visitors, this year’s edition has sanctioned a leap forward, as underlined by Domenico Lunghi, at the helm of the Direct Exhibitions of BolognaFiere: “ Exhibitors increased by more than 25% compared to the last pre-Covid edition. Such strong growth as to require that the exhibition layout be redesigned with the addition of new pavilions in order to welcome all the companies that have chosen to invest in our fair and make it their stage for three intense days of business and meetings”.
There were 1,060 exhibitors at the 20th Zoomark edition who confirmed their trust, occupying the over 68,000 square meters of exhibition area, from 57 countries. Over 260 Italians, followed by the Chinese (201), followed by the British (62), Germans (58), Americans (45) and Turks (41).
This year, companies from Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Romania and Vietnam made their debut.
The number of visitors also increased (+8.7%) compared to the 2019 edition. Professional operators totaled 27,950, including shopkeepers and buyers from pet shops and chains (23.6%), wholesale distributors (20 .3%), import-export operators (19.3%). To these are added groomers, large-scale retail and garden center buyers, veterinarians, manufacturing company operators and representatives of the international press.
Despite the problems caused by bad weather, the percentage of visitors from abroad doubled compared to 2019 (62%). Over 17,300 foreign operators arriving from 120 countries, not only European. In fact, professionals from Asia, America, Africa and Oceania have arrived.
