
The 40th Macfrut will kick off at the Rimini Expo Center from 3 to 5 May, to be held together with Fieravicola. On May 2, a special visit by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, a guest in the city of Cesena to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the international fruit and vegetable fair, organized by Cesena Fiera. In the heart of the Malatesta city (Piazza della Libertà) a preview of the event is set up together with companies in the fruit and vegetable and poultry sector of the area.
A total of 15 stands dedicated to the excellence of agrifood that President Mattarella visits before heading to the Bonci Theater.
The 40th edition of the Rimini event will kick off on 3 May, inaugurated in the presence of government and local institutions.
Strategic sector of Made in Italy
40th Macfrut, protagonist of the fruit and vegetable supply chain. For the fair, these are record numbers for the 60 thousand square meters of surface area of the fair, +35% compared to last year (two more pavilions) and +200% compared to 8 years ago.
Foreign exhibitors are also growing (+50%), representing 38% of the total. To these are added 1500 top international buyers. The event is also made unique by a schedule made up of about a hundred appointments, in addition to the thematic salons Biosolutions, International Blueberry Days, Spices and Officinal Herbs, Tomatoes, Vivaismo, the double test field with the technical and technological innovations of the sector. Partner Region 2023 will be Calabria.
Partner area of the 40th Macfrut South America, protagonist of an entire pavilion. This year will also be the “first time” of Mexico and Saudi Arabia, while 22 companies arriving from Egypt will be in a maxi stand. And again: a pavilion dedicated to Africa with 19 countries and the return of China together with 32 companies, the first time at an agri-food fair after Covid.
Exports are growing
At the center of the 40th Macfrut https://www.macfrut.com is the fruit and vegetable sector of excellence made in Italy for the strength of its supply chain, so much so that it represents a quarter of national agricultural production (1.2 million hectares cultivated) and involves 300 thousand companies.
In 2022 Italy produced about 25 million tons of fruit and vegetables for a value of fruit and vegetable production of about 15 billion euros. Exports in 2022 exceeded 10 billion euros (fresh and processed) with a balance of trade of +2,762 million euros.
Data destined to be tripled if the entire supply chain were considered.
Many events scheduled on the opening day of the 40th Macfrut. Among the halls the Symposium of the International Blueberry Days together with the greatest blueberry scholars and researchers arriving from five continents (Great Britain, Australia, Turkey, Portugal, China, United States, Chile, Poland and Italy), in the presence of 200 participants Worldwide.
