The appointment with Focus on PCB 2023 will be at the Vicenza Fair from 17 to 18 May. Organized by NürnbergMesse, promoted by the PCB Assodel Group and hosted by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, the exhibition aims to offer an opportunity to explore new technologies, innovative applications, market trends and technical and professional updates on regulations, standards and technological innovations for the industries of the sector.

The talents of the sector compete

For the first time in Italy, the Welding Championship organized by IPC will also take place as part of the event dedicated to the world of printed circuits.
Manual soldering is becoming an increasingly difficult resource to find in the electronics industry, as is remembered by companies. This is why the manual welding competition that will make its debut in Vicenza aims to identify the best talents and celebrate their skills.
Participants in Focus on PCB 2023 will have to create a functional electronic assembly within the time of 60 minutes. The printed circuits will be evaluated by a jury, composed of Gestlabs IPC-A-610 Master Instructors, based on the quality of the soldering according to the IPC-A-610 Class 3 criteria, the speed of construction and the overall electrical functionality of the assembly .
Participants in the manual welding competition organized by IPC will compete at booth 109 to win and be awarded a cash prize.

Innovation and technical capabilities

Each year, IPC holds several competitions around the world to identify regional champions. At the end of the regional qualifiers, the world final takes place in Munich in conjunction with the Productronica 2023 fair (November 14-17): all the regional champions will face off in an exciting challenge and the winner will be crowned the welding world champion by hand IPC.
“We chose Focus on PCB 2023 www.focusonpcb.it to host the Welding Championship for the first time in Italy because it has proven to be an event capable of attracting the best of the Italian and European electronics industry – recalled Philippe Léonard of IPC –. We share with the event the desire to highlight the skills of an industry where innovation and talent are qualities to be recognized and rewarded”.
In fact, through the welding tender, IPC intends to turn the spotlight on the extraordinary technical skills demonstrated by welding and electronic assembly professionals. The precision and expertise of electronic welders are the result of experience gained over time, a real talent that more than other professions suffers from the growing difficulty of recruitment.
