
Salone Milano 2023, which was held from 18 to 23 April at Fieramilano Rho, celebrates a record 61st edition. In fact, the main international event for the furniture design sector saw over 2,000 exhibiting brands, 34% of which came from 37 countries. Among these, 550 young designers from 31 countries and 28 design schools and universities arriving from 18 countries.
The ability to attract
In terms of visitor turnout, there were 307,418 registered visitors (+15% compared to 2022), in 6 days, from 181 countries. Also significant is the 65% of buyers and sector operators from abroad.
China has returned to being the first country after Italy, followed by Germany, France, the United States, Spain with Brazil and India on equal terms. Over 5,400 accredited journalists, 47% of whom from abroad.
This is the comment of Maria Porro, president of Salone Milano 2023. “We have learned several important lessons from this edition: we have learned that you can redesign a huge event like the show to ferry it into the future, that you can win the game of sustainability when everything the system remains cohesive, that new contents can be imagined and used to generate knowledge, growth, value”.
Attention to the sustainable component
The support of Agenzia ICE and Simest was also decisive, materialized with the invitation of over 220 buyers and 240 journalists from 64 countries who had the opportunity to meet the companies. Also important is the collaboration with Fiera Milano which contributed to the realization of this event.
Attention to the sustainable component, at an organization and management level, will lead the Salone Milano 2023 https://www.salonemilano.it/it to be the first trade fair in the sector to receive ISO 20121 certification for the sustainable management of events. This has made this event an international stage for new business ideas and technological solutions capable of contributing to human well-being, the protection of the environment, the home and the more efficient use of resources, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the Nations Unite.
Attention to digital is growing
The data recorded by the digital platform during the days of Salone Milano 2023 also exceeded expectations. Website, newsletter, app, push and social networks reported on a daily basis the unfolding of the event, the activities dedicated to the public and the brands, events and news .
A live story that follows the activation plan started in the previous weeks and a multi-channel planning that also gave space to the behind-the-scenes activities of all the insiders involved. On the social front, 30 million accounts were reached and the contents recorded over 6 million video views and around 80 million impressions. On the other hand, there were around one million visitors to the site and more than 7 million page views. The updated Salone Milano 2023 app has tripled the number of downloads since the beginning of the year.
