The 27th Miart, the international modern and contemporary art fair in Milan organized by Fiera Milano and directed for the third year by Nicola Ricciardi, ended on 16 April at the Allianz MiCo in Milan. Continuing in the wake of musical metaphors, the event, which started on April 14, built its imagery around the word “Crescendo”.
A term that belongs to the language of music indicates the gradual increase in intensity of sound, in relation to the fair it has been able to underline a progressive growth in participation and audiences and the desire to continue on this trajectory beyond 2023.
Quality and internationality
From the first day of opening of the 27th Miart – Thursday 13 April reserved for VIPs – and throughout its duration, the event recorded great vivacity, experiencing an increase in the presence of international VIPs including collectors, art consultants, curators and directors of private foundations and Italian and foreign museums. The participation of the Italian and international press, of and art enthusiasts is also growing.
The quality of the 169 galleries present at the Allianz MiCo was greatly appreciated and a significant increase in the international reach of the event which saw the presence of exhibitors with offices abroad increase by 40%. Thus detecting a total of origin from 27 countries on all continents.
Go beyond traditional boundaries
That of 2023 is an edition that stood out for the quality of the works on display, for the careful curatorial research, for the museum-level exhibition projects. And above all for the ability of the 27th Miart to go beyond traditional boundaries by creating unprecedented collaborations and fostering relationships and exchanges with the city, its institutions and its citizens.
inspired by the concept of Crescendo, the contents for the first time have come out like roots from their pot to be grafted into other places in the city. In fact, on Saturday 15th April, Triennale Milano welcomed, with great participation, miart LIVE at Triennale Milano: a series of meetings during the 27th Miart www.miart.it born from the collaboration with the Milanese institution which saw the participation of big names from the world of culture. Among these Massimiliano Gioni and Beatrice Trussardi, Jonathan Monk and Angharad Williams, Gianni Pettena and Italo Rota. Meetings that developed around the theme of the ability of art to take hold of other places and disciplines far from traditional containers.
Collaboration also underlined by a new edition of FOG – Triennale Milano Performig Arts, which during the days of the fair presented the Italian premieres of Jeremy Nedd and Impilo Mapantsula (12-13 April) and Dewey Dell (15-16 April).
For the 27th Miart edition, the prizes and commissions to support the commitment and vision of the galleries and artists who participate in the fair also increased. Each of these awards underlines how active each of the partners is in supporting art and culture.
