
The 18th edition of Model Expo Italy Verona closed on March 5 with a 30% growth, in an upturn compared to previous editions. In total, in fact, attendance exceeded 50,000, exhibitors were 450, housed in an area of over 60,000 square meters.
Leader in Italy, the event, which started on 4 March at VeronaFiere, is divided into 10 thematic areas representing the main sectors of modeling and the Games District, a game show in all its forms.
Fun and flashmob between the stands
Two days of fun, going from driving off and on road car models to airsoft battles and old and new generation video games.
Over 150 events were organized by associations and exhibitors at the 18th edition of Model Expo Italy Verona. Among these, the cosplayer competition, the Cosfight, which was won by Francesca Maria Dainotto who paraded for the public, wearing the role of Belle, protagonist of the animated film “Beauty and the Beast” (1991), distributed from Walt Disney Pictures.
Comedy duo PanPers took center stage on Sunday, March 5 on the Main Stage with a show that ranged from famous singer impersonations to cartoon theme songs.
The masks of the Italian Masks Coordination Center paraded together with the Mozzecane band and the Afrodite majorettes, creating various flashmobs between the pavilions and the external areas of the fairgrounds. Great satisfaction also among the exhibitors who have sold out in many stands.
The success of Lego bricks
Among the best-selling products are spare parts for model cars and model railways, radio-controlled electric cars, board games and Lego kits. In fact, there were millions of colored bricks that gave life to the largest exhibition in Europe on a single surface of 10,000 square meters, with 32 exhibitors. Underwater worlds, space rockets, reproductions of film scenes, those of video games and historic buildings of Italy are just some of the scenarios represented.
But for some years the Brick Arena has also been open to cycles of conferences for the public held by professionals because the Lego brand is not just a game, but also culture. During Model Expo Italy Verona, enthusiasts also created an X-shaped diorama, or the Roman number ten, in memory of the 10 editions of the Brick Arena. A few numbers: 1,670,000 studs – the unit of measurement for bricks – and 110 square meters of surface.
Finally, as sponsor of the event, Subaru organized test drives driving Foresters, Subaru XVs and Solterras, the brand’s first electric 4×4 SUV, in the company of professional drivers from the Subaru Driving School.
