The 2023 edition of Arte Fiera Bologna 2023, in Bologna from 3 to 5 February, marks an important turning point.
While on the one hand the event returns both to the traditional dates of the trade fair calendar and to the spaces historically associated with it, namely pavilions 25 and 26, among the most beautiful and recognizable in the Bologna district.
On the other hand, it introduces innovations across the board. Starting with the management with the arrival of Enea Righi, a highly experienced manager and one of the most important contemporary art collectors in Italy, as the new chief operating officer. Other innovations concern the set-ups, from the structure of the event to the Public program.

More attention to the visitor experience

The covered plaza that leads to the pavilions will welcome the public to the Arte Fiera Bologna 2023 Service Center by the installation entitled “Connecting Green Hub” by MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects. Originally conceived for the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the large table-environment, with sinuous and organic shapes, houses the talk space, the bookshop and other services, becoming, at the same time, a stopping and meeting point.
Attention to the visitor experience is not limited to the fittings. For example, the gastronomic offer, for which Bologna is famous, has been completely redesigned. Examples of this are the presence of chef Massimiliano Poggi in the VIP lounge and the culinary offerings linked to the territory and tradition.

Arte Fiera Bologna 2023: the Path format makes its debut

The structure of the fair itself has been at the heart of this renewal process.
The Main Section, divided according to tradition between historicized and contemporary art, is now joined by the three curated and invited sections “Photography and moving images”, “Pittura XXI” and the newcomer “Multipli”. The latter is open to both galleries and specialized publishers and bookshops, and offers editioned works.
Alongside the curated sections, Arte Fiera Bologna 2023 https://www.artefiera.it/home/776.html is also launching the new Path format. It is not a real section but, as the title suggests, an itinerary that connects a certain number of stands in the Main section according to a thematic criterion.
The theme of the first Path will be a material/technique that in recent years has undergone an international rediscovery, namely ceramics.

News also among the curators. invitation “Photography and moving images” is entrusted to Giangavino Pazzola, curator of Camera – Italian Center for Photography (Turin). “Multipli” is curated by Lisa Andreani and Simona Squadrito, founders of the REPLICA project – Italian Artist’s Book Archive. Finally, Davide Ferri, critic and independent curator, is confirmed at “Pittura XXI”.
