Starting from this year Sol d’Oro 2023 and Aipo d’Argento join forces in the realization of “Sol d’Oro Northern Hemisphere -XXI International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition”, scheduled from 20 to 26 February at the Verona Fair. Promoted by Veronafiere, Sol d’Oro 2023 has been the international competition with blind tastings known worldwide for twenty-one years. Aipo d’Argento is instead the competition that for twenty years has had a more markedly territorial vocation.
Born with the aim of giving value to the best extra virgin olive oils, the first initiative combines blind tasting with the evaluations of international panelists and has been projected abroad since its debut, so much so that it is split into the Northern and Southern Hemisphere editions.
The competition takes place twice a year. This year from 20 to 26 February for oils from the Northern Hemisphere; in September for those produced in the Southern Hemisphere. Sol d’Oro 2023 https://www.solagrifood.com/sol-d-oro Northern Hemisphere takes place as a preview of Sol&Agrifood https://www.solagrifood.com, international exhibition of extra virgin olive oil and quality agri-food, from 2 to 5 April 2023.

Organized by the Interregional Association of Olive Producers, Aipo d’Argento represents the Italian oil supply chain and stimulates discussion between national and Mediterranean companies, measuring their performance through a panel recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies which is specialized in certification of quality oils.

A contest in two phases

The objective of the partnership between Sol d’Oro 2023 and Aipo d’Argento is aimed at creating further added value for producers who intend to be present at the 21st edition of the Veronafiere International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.
In fact, those who take part in the 20th edition of the Aipo d’Argento International Oil Competition will automatically be admitted to Sol d’Oro 2023 Northern Hemisphere and will thus be able to benefit from both the blind test sensory judgment by the international panel and the chemical- organoleptic certified by the laboratory of the association.
Access to the second phase will depend on this result, to which only flawless extra virgin olive oils will be admitted.
Following the panellists, integrated in number and for foreign origin, they will be able to focus exclusively on the sensory judgment ensuring an accurate selection of the products.
The winners will then be presented in dedicated tastings in the Evo Oil Tasting area on the occasion of Sol&Agrifood. They will also be included in The Winners Guide, dedicated to Veronafiere buyers and delegates and promoted at international events.
The next edition of Sol d’Oro 2023 is scheduled from 20 to 26 February. Registrations are received by February 13 on the site
