BolognaFiere has announced that, in addition to the usual children’s sector, the Literary Agents Center of Bologna Children’s BF – Book Fair – will also extend its offer to general publishing.
This is among the first novelties of the next book fair which will take place in the capital from 6 to 9 March 2023.
Professionals in the rights sector will also be involved from publishing houses exhibiting in the Bologna pavilions within BolognaBookPlus. This change, which falls on the 60th anniversary of the event, marks another step forward in its evolution.
This is the comment by Elena Pasoli, exhibition manager of Bologna Children’s BF: “Our Literary Agents Center has been a great success for years and we think that its natural evolution is to open up to a wider audience of professionals in the rights sector. Offering new opportunities to the entire publishing industry is a great way to celebrate this special birthday “.

The role of the Bologna Global Rights Exchange

In general, the exchange of rights is a central element of book fairs, including Bologna Children’s BF
An important role in this aspect of the publishing ecosystem is played by Bologna Global Rights Exchange, a digital platform created during the period of the pandemic. A solution that allowed exhibitors and visitors to continue presenting, discovering and exchanging rights around the world, even though it was not possible to meet in person.
BCBF, BBPlus and Bologna Licensing Trade Fair are part of it. With the end of the emergency, the platform continues to offer its support to the international publishing community all year round, thus ensuring the operation of the Rights Center while waiting to meet in Bologna.

Bologna Children’s BF: an opportunity for the sector

The expansion of the Bolognese Rights Center to generalist publishing is testimony to a move towards a proposal that combines the opportunities that publishers can benefit from every year. And this whether it is children’s books, adult books or educational publishing. Exchanging rights globally, training events, exhibitions and networking opportunities, at all levels, represent the increasingly complete and engaging experience offered in Bologna.
