50th Arte Fiera has announced the date of the 2023 edition, which will take place from 3 to 5 February with a preview by invitation on the 2. After this year’s edition, held in May due to the pandemic situation, the fair returns therefore on the traditional date. Given that it ranks as the first fair of the year in Italy and the only one to be held in the Bologna exhibition center at that time.
The venue also marks a return to tradition. In fact, the event will take place in halls 25 and 26, associated for decades with the 50th Arte Fiera, and will use the Constitution entrance, the gateway par excellence of the exhibition center towards the city center. Built in 1964 as part of the first BolognaFiere nucleus and the subject of a recent restyling, the two pavilions are among the most elegant and recognizable in the entire district.

Change of governance

The next event also sees the reconfirmation of Simone Menegoi in the role of artistic director, who is joined, as managing director, by Enea Righi.
Born in 1956, from Bologna, known internationally as one of the most important Italian collectors of contemporary art, Righi brings to the fair not only his knowledge of the world of art, but also managerial skills refined in over thirty years of work at the top of a large company. His goal is to coordinate some crucial aspects for the success of the event, focusing in particular on the visitor experience.
The arrival of Righi is the first sign of a decisive change of pace for 50th Arte Fiera, which embarks on a path of investment and renewal on various fronts.

50 years of the event

From communication to the care of VIP guests, from content to partnerships: a change of pace in anticipation, in 2024, of the fiftieth anniversary of the birth of the Bolognese event, the first art fair to have opened its doors in our country and one of the very first in Europe.

In this perspective, the 50th Arte Fiera https://www.artefiera.it/home/776.html relaunches its partnership with Art City, the Bolognese Art Week circuit. Therefore, the 2023 edition of Arte Fiera will also be accompanied as usual by exhibitions and events coordinated by Lorenzo Balbi, director of MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna.
“The project undertaken for Arte Fiera is an important relaunch – declared Gianpiero Calzolari, president of BolognaFiere -. A global project that will further strengthen the historic Italian event dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The artistic proposal of the galleries at the fair and the initiatives of Art City, the result of the consolidated collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna, will confirm our city as a reference point for the art market and testimony of the strong synergy between the fair and the institutions of the territory”.
