Eima Idrotech, a trade fair specializing in technologies for water management in agriculture, will take place from 9 to 13 November next to the Bologna fair.
Located within Eima International, an event dedicated to agricultural mechanics, and already with 210 exhibiting industries, the event offers technological answers to the water emergency that is now found in all Italian regions. In the first four months of this year, according to CNR data, the amount of rain has halved compared to the average of the last thirty years. In these months, the accumulated rainfall in Italy was 50% lower than the 1991/2020 average. The deficit is even heavier in Northern Italy where, again taking the 1991-2020 average as a reference, just one third of the expected rainfall in the first months of the year fell.
Eima Idrotech: reducing water consumption in agriculture
Agriculture is the most “drainage” production sector. Suffice it to say that 70% of all fresh water withdrawn in Italy from surface sources or aquifers is used in the primary sector. In addition, in one year no less than 12 billion cubic meters of water are used for irrigation (source Istat).
Reducing water consumption in agriculture therefore means saving huge water resources. A priority need especially in the face of climate change underway and the increasingly frequent emergencies-droughts.
The answer can only be technological, given that the most advanced systems for pumping and transporting water, for irrigation in the open field and in specialized crops, assisted by sophisticated electronic and IT systems, are now able to optimize the use of water, avoiding waste, dealing with emergencies.
Eima Idrotech https://www.eimaidrotech.it/it/index.php is one of the most important exhibition events in this sector. To date – according to FederUnacoma data, which brings together the manufacturers of agricultural machinery that is the organizer of the exhibition – 210 exhibiting industries have already confirmed their participation. About half of these companies are of foreign origin. Representing the main producing countries, Spain, Turkey, Israel and the United States stand out in terms of the number of participating companies.
However, since registrations for the show are still open, the organizers believe that the final number of participants could be even higher. As well as the exhibition area of the events, which currently already covers over 10 thousand square meters. Also in this edition it will not mark the conference part. The main topics include the drought emergency and training events on irrigation technologies.
