
At Fiera Milan Rho, from April 30 to May 2, an appointment with Mido 2022 Edition, the world’s leading eyewear event. This will be a breakthrough edition that will see 650 exhibitors from 45 countries as protagonists.
In its 5 pavilions, the event will welcome buyers, opticians, designers, national and international journalists, ready to amaze the public with news and emotions that will accompany moments of international business in which the coolest accessory will be the protagonist. Among the trends on display: genderless eyewear, vintage products with a return to the 70s, increasingly sustainable materials, packaging and processes, revisited classics, shocking colors.
The opening event of the Mido 2022 Edition will be a meeting dedicated to art in all its forms, to share beauty, music, dance, entertainment, reflection and current events together with prominent guests and protagonists of the national scene. Journalist Costanza Calabrese will then conduct the kick-off event with Giovanni Vitaloni, president of the event. We will talk about the current moment for the sector and the economy, together with the historian and journalist Paolo Mieli and the president of ICE Agenzia, Carlo Ferro.
The opening ceremony will also be an opportunity to celebrate the protagonists who have made the history of the event and eyewear, starting from the first edition in 1970. That is the past presidents and the most “long-lived” players in the sector over the century of life.
News and reconfirmations
The full immersion in the world of eyewear will begin upon arrival at the fair, thanks to the “Buyers’ Rewards” initiative, a program that the 2022 Mido Edition will reserve for buyers with three themed giveaways the MIDO 50 glasses, a limited edition of the young brand Spectaful for the Yugaav collection. And then the novel “A Story to See” by Adriano Moraglio, which tells about 50 years of the eyewear show, and the volume “History of optics” by Sergio Cappa and Silvio Maffioletti, which in 400 pages reconstructs 7 centuries of history of lens and glasses.
Among the new events of this edition, in addition to the traditional BeStore which will reward the optical centers, the first edition of “Stand Up For Green” will be held, destined for the stand that will have distinguished itself for its attention to environmental sustainability.
Another novelty is the Start Up area, which completes the consolidated exhibition scenario consisting of Fashion Discrict, Design Tech, Design Lab, More !, Lenses, FAiR East, Tech, Lab Academy. The new space will welcome emerging players in the eyewear market, which the event will receive in a dedicated area, characterized by an eco-sustainable setting, with recycled and recyclable materials, in line with the path that the event has taken since 2019.
A space of the Mido 2022 Edition www.mido.com is also dedicated to younger brands, promoted together with Agenzia ICE, which in hall 18, which presents the windows of 6 selected start-ups, which will exhibit 2 glasses each.
