From 1 to 3 April miart 2022, the international fair of modern and contemporary art, returns to Milan. First trade fair of 2022 in Italy and among the first in Europe.
With galleries operating in 20 countries from all over the world, the twenty-sixth edition – and the second directed by Nicola Ricciardi – strengthens the international reach and consolidates the link with Milan and its institutions.
In fact, the event leads the way in the symbolic start of a new phase, the first movement of a possible new symphony, in an April full of appointments for the world of art.

Three sections

miart 2022 returns to host the main Italian galleries and at the same time strengthens its international reach, thanks to the return of an important group of loyal galleries and new entries.
The projects, selected by the Committee, have the objective of composing a coherent and accurate fair, of promoting dialogue with new talents by enhancing tradition.
Among the artists on display, the presence of some of the protagonists of the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale should also be noted.
For a clearer and more readable distribution of spaces, for the first time the sections at miart 2022 https://www.miart.it have been brought back to three.
The main one is Established, which hosts in an unprecedented way galleries that exhibit works of the closest contemporary together with those dedicated to the art of the twentieth century, not forgetting those active in the field of collectible and author design. Decades, curated by Alberto Salvadori, explores the history of the last century through monographic projects from the 10s of the twentieth century to the 10s of the 2000s. Finally Emergent, a section dedicated to young galleries and which will exceptionally be placed at the entrance to the exhibition, so as to highlight the research of the most recent generations of gallery owners and artists.

Focus on movement

If the twenty-fifth edition aimed to retune the tools of the art market after the long pause, the goal of miart 2022 is to kick off a new phase. Or to become the first movement of a new possible symphony.
The idea of movement also played a central role in the development of the new graphic identity and the photographic campaign of miart, entrusted for the first time to the Cabinet Milano studio.
For the 2022 edition, Cabinet collaborated with the German photographer and choreographer Isabelle Wenzel, who photographed herself in a series of aerobic actions and positions focusing on the sculptural qualities of the body.
The same concept is also at the center of a series of initiatives and collaborations activated by miart 2022 with partners and institutions belonging to the world of music, dance and theater.
