
After the conclusion of Emporio MIDA, the online platform that replaced the 2021 International Handicraft Exhibition this year, the organizers announced the next dates of the Florentine event.
The 86th of the event will take place in the presence of the Fortezza da Basso from 23 April to 1 May 2022.
“We close this 85th edition of the exhibition under the banner of optimism – said Lorenzo Becattini. president of Firenze Fiera – with a positive response from most of the artisans who also wanted to follow us in this new adventure, presenting a selection of their most beautiful and representative creations. Italian craftsmanship of excellence has continued to tell and excite, as evidenced by the numerous accesses registered not only from Italy but also from various foreign countries such as the United States, Japan, Brazil, Spain, France and Cyprus.
In this phase of the restart of our country it is therefore important to root more and more the concept of a quality craftsmanship which, strengthened by a historical memory of old knowledge and a present of technological innovation, is able to represent a cultural, economic and of beauty to be protected and supported against the challenges of globalization ».
The digital format
Online on the Emporio MIDA platform, the International Handicraft Exhibition represented, for nine consecutive days, a showcase open to the world for more than a hundred craftsmen.
Among them many regular exhibitors in the Fortezza, who have decided not to miss the usual spring appointment with the Florentine event, waiting to meet Piera Iorio, director of the Training Agency at the Technological Pole of Navacchio (Pisa): “Bring the I believe that it was not an easy undertaking, but in the end it represented a great opportunity for visibility for all exhibitors. It is important to continue to invest also in this new format of the fair which I hope will not be lost but will enrich the next 2022 edition in the Fortezza ».
Among the many initiatives that marked this edition of the International Handicraft Exhibition, “CRAFT 4.0”, the exhibition curated by the Department of Architecture – Design Campus of the University of Florence, met with particular interest. As well as the initiative “The Fortress as you have never seen it” by Firenze Fiera and the Muse Association which allowed virtual visitors to be accompanied inside the Fortress of San Giovanni, to discover its most hidden like the Dungeons.
